Timor Island or West Timor with its capital Kupang is the administrative and cultural center of Nusa Tenggara Timur. This is the starting point, the hub and the spring board for your adventure tour of the region as well as having an abundance of tourist attractions itself. Explore the nearby off shore Islands of Semau or Kera, visit the sacred houses of Belu, explore the limestone caves, dive, swim, visit the Museum or just relax on any of the many palm fringed white sandy beaches found throughout the Island.
There are currently 4 airlines with daily flights from Jakarta via Surabaya or Bali and an International airline with flights twice a week from Darwin Australia. Within West Timor, the Bemo's (mini busses) provide an economic and convenient way to travel around the city. In the capital Kupang, you will find a "melting pot "of the people from all of the regions creating a busy, bustling city in a mix of traditional and Dutch colonial architecture. WEST TIMOR AND SABU ISLAND
West Timor is the principal island in terms of population where the capital of the province, Kupang, is located. Kupang is now being developed to be the gate- way to Nusa Tenggara. There are direct flights from /to Darwin-Australia. West Timor is rich in various cultures, beautiful sceneries, and a wonderful nature. Made up of dry, rocky land, isolated communities, rolling cattle land, a variety of styles of architecture, Timor is basically something that possesses its own original characteristics.
West Timor is a political region that comprises the western half of Tomir Island with the exception of Oecussi-Ambeno district (which is politically part of East Timor) and forms a part of Indonesia province of East Nusa Tenggara, (NTT or Nusa TenggaraTimur). West Timor's capital and chief port is Kupang. The land area of West Timor is 15,850 km. During the colonial period it was known as Dutch Timor and was a centre of Dutch loyalists during the Indonesian War of Independence (1945-1949).
Sabu and Raijua Islands are also peaceful and tranquil.and less influenced by visitors. Traditional ceremonies and seasonal fertility and war dances are performed throughout the year according to their beliefs. The Island of Sabu and Raijua Island is divided into several spiritual domains so there is always a traditional ceremony being performed somewhere on the Island. DANA ISLAND

Island of Ndana - Sabu is a small, uninhabited island, situated thirty kilometers Southwest of Rai Jua. This island is one of the very outer part of Indonesia, specially in the regency of Kupang. The rocky, south side of the island is exposed to deep ocean swells originating in the Southern Ocean, five thousands kilometers away. Sheep and goats are to be seen on the island. However, Savu and Rai Jua people do not go to Dana, except for the annual ritual ceremony. According to Savunese tradition, no one is allowed to visit Dana for any other purpose.
Once in past some Australian (probably nature lover) reside here for about four years, but their present detected by Indonesian Sea Force and put the Indonesian flag in the island. This island stay unoccupied and unlivable till nowadays, because on high tide on seventy five percent of the island covered by water, and surely its risky for living, even for soldier. There is no fresh water available in the island. Indonesian Sea Force are frequently seen to guard this island

ISLAND OF BATEK

Pulau Batek or Island of Batek located in the area of North Amfoang Sub Regency, once claimed by Timor Leste government as their teritory because its just nearby to Oecusi District in Timor Leste. The Batek island is often used by Indonesian Sea Force for exercising and later become a tourism object.
